RSVP on the Road From time to time we take the RSVP concept on the road. Our first collaboration was with the Saskatoon Symphony. It was a resounding success, pairing some of our favourite requests from Dear RSVP with spirited live performances. A special highlight was a guest appearance by diva-daughter Holly Cole, accompanied by a proud papa at the piano.CONCERT REVIEWS "The entire evening was much more personal than usual. The request letters brought a story, an image to every piece. Rossini’s La Gaza Ladra was a triumphant finale with an incredible story to match its greatness." We also designed "You Asked for It" concerts for the Kingston and PEI symphony orchestras. Music lovers submitted their requests and we worked as many as possible into a fun-filled evening. In Kingston a local blacksmith requested (you guessed it) The Anvil Chorus. Conductor Rosemary Thomson taught the audience the words while Leon and Jacqui helped hammer the on-stage anvil. Artistic director Brian Jackson declared it "the best classical music shtick I’ve ever seen." The music for the PEI Symphony concert ranged from the gorgeous pastoral sound of The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams to the stirring Hungarian March by Berlioz. And there was a warm response to the stories that introduced the music. "Islanders love anecdotes so what better than to hear a story from your fellow concert-goer and wonderful music as well?"We’ve also helped the Winnipeg Singers and the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir celebrate important anniversaries, hosted the National Music Festival Finals and given anecdote-filled talks on opera and the classics.
